products to the corporate- and bank-owned life insurance (COLI and BOLI)
markets. These institutional clients purchase COLI and BOLI products to fund
their long-term company liabilities.
EM is a marketing division for Transamerica Life Insurance Company, Western
Reserve Life Assurance Co. of Ohio and Transamerica Financial Life Insurance
Company. Products include general account, modified separate account and
registered and private placement variable life insurance policies, which can be
either single or recurring premium.
EM's target markets include companies in the Fortune 500 and large regional and
national banks. In addition to being a leader in the COLI and BOLI markets, EM
also provides its expertise in private placement life insurance for the
individual high-net-worth market.
EM distributes its products through and maintains strong relationships with a
small number of specialized brokers and producer groups with a high level of
expertise and success in their particular niche market. EM's close
relationships with its distribution partners, along with AEGON's decentralized
structure, allow it to be proactive in its marketing strategies by quickly
adapting and revising product offerings as markets change or legislation alters
how products are sold. EM recently solidified its distribution capabilities by
acquiring Clark Consulting, its largest marketer of COLI and BOLI.
