About Cedar Rapids
Located in eastern Iowa, Cedar Rapids is referred to as the City of Five Seasons. The "fifth" season is the
season to enjoy life--a pace and a place to enjoy the other four seasons. Our diverse
leisure, cultural, and historic attractions help us to enjoy all seasons. People work hard to create a quality
of life that is often coveted and rarely duplicated in other parts of the country.
Nowhere else in the country combines commerce, culture, leisure, and education
the way Cedar Rapids does. With an abundance of each, the City of Five Seasons and its surrounding
communities offer fulfillment for all people, even those with the most
sophisticated tastes.
This is a regional hub for Eastern Iowa because of its proximity to several of the
country's largest metropolitan areas and major interstate highways. There is
direct access to cities like Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Omaha, St. Louis, and
Kansas City. However, most of the "good things in life" are found right in the community--great
jobs, safe neighborhoods, theaters, museums, schools, symphonies, shopping,
sports, and recreation. Cedar Rapids is large enough to offer all the amenities of life and far enough away from the
hubbub of metropolitan life to ensure a life filled with enrichment and quality.
Cultural sites include the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, National
Czech and Slovak Museum, African American Historical Museum, and Science Station.
Our Cedar Rapids Symphony presents outstanding concerts in our historical Paramount Theatre building.
Theatre Cedar Rapids provides a variety of community theatrical productions.
Excellence in our educational school systems is a priority. Local post
secondary institutions include Coe College, Mount Mercy College,
Kirkwood Community College, Cornell College, and nearby is the
University of Iowa.
